- Coffee in Vietnam is dark roasted for a strong, robust flavour, then often brewed using French Press or the iconic phin cà phê metallic drip filter that brews directly into the cup, then sweetened condensed milk is added to temper the strong brew and creates the original Vietnamese-style coffee including cà phê đen đá, cà phê sữa đá, cà phê đen nóng, cà phê sữa nóng and cà phê dừa.
- How to brew Vietnamese Coffee: 1) What you need to brew Vietnamese-style coffee: coarse ground Vietnamese dark roast coffee, boiling water, sweetened condensed milk, a phin ca phe drip filter or French press cafetiere. 2) Pour 1-2 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk into the bottom of your glass or cup, which creates the sweet base for your coffee. 3) Boil the water and let it cool down for 30 seconds to just below boiling point.
- How to brew Vietnamese Coffee: 4) Measure out 2-3 tablespoons of the coarsely ground coffee and add to the phin ca phe drip filter or French press. 5) Press the grounds down gently using the top screen of the phin ca phe to ensure they're flat and even.
