Coffee Beans
Brown Bear’s freshly roasted coffee beans are packed and heat-sealed into our coffee bags to keep the beany goodness and flavour inside. Ensure you have a quality grinder to get the most out of our coffee.
Check out our coffee guide under About Us for some great how to guides.
Cafetière & Filter
Our fresh, pre-ground coffee is a simple, convenient option if you don’t have a home grinder. The coffee grind coarseness (our Omni grind) is perfect for cafetières (French press), and drip filters and can also be used in the Aeropress, Moka pots and coffee percolators. We’d always recommend whole beans for absolute freshness but if you do opt for pre-ground, it’s always best to keep them in an airtight container, away from light and use them as quickly as possible.
Medium Dark Roast Coffee - La Vida Espresso - Strength 4
Gives a good crema and a strong, smooth flavour. Aroma has a slight caramel nuts smell as well as the coffee, which is nice. A good anytime-of-day coffee.
I have had this coffee (La Vida) three or four times. Previously I loved it but this bag was disappointing. The beans seem to have been over-roasted, much darker than usual, and harsh/bitter taste, non of the usual smooth nutty flavours. :(
Fabulous all day, every day coffee!
Nice to be able to test so many coffees in small bags and then order 1kg bags!
Customer services also excellent, had a small problem a while ago and it was sorted immediately, so very pleased all round.
I'm sorry to say I'm getting stale coffee. The roast date is 18 months before the wholly-unrealistic use-by date, and I used to get coffee no more than 1-2 months old. But the last 3 orders have all been roasted in July 24, which means I'm now drinking coffee roasted 6 months ago. Way too long. It's weak tasting compared to fresh-roasted. The "coffee" taste has gone, and just the bitterness remains.
I'm really sorry about this. La Vida is lovely coffee when freshly-roasted, but 6 months after roasting it's not great.
Lovely coffee when it's freshly, but unfortunately they can't promise this, and my latest batch was roasted around 3-4 months earlier than when shipped.
Drinking this 'La Vida' takes me back to south america. A nicely rounded coffee and smooth, with a good amount of dark chocolate type taste at the end.
As a fan of Brown Bear's Original Blend, I naturally needed to try this out straight away! It arrived quickly as usual and I couldn't wait to try it. It's slightly different to Original in that it's probably less chocolately in the finish but I definitely do like it and will be trying it in our espresso machine next as I've only used it in the cafetiere so far. Overall a very nice, rich and good body coffee I would say...
