Northwest of the ancient Machu Pichu ruins is the Chanchamayo province in the Central Peruvian Highlands. Where Arabica Caturra, Typica, Pache & Bourbon varieties are grown up to 1,400 metres above sea level.
Peruvian coffee is not as well known as Colombian; these underrated Washed Process coffees produce a denser bean than at lower elevations and a supremely balanced yet complex coffee, which is well worth brewing. Expect a balanced cup with a medium body, slight acidity, floral, caramel and cinnamon notes, and a nice clean finish.
